Belonging to the World Church
Belonging
to the World Church enables people to share something
of the experience of our partners. Listening to their stories
brings alive the daily reality of injustice and violence faced
by many in this world, also the hope and courage of people
empowered by faith and commitment. Engaging with them can
inspire our own commitment and actions as we seek to deepen
our engagement in God’s mission today.
Belonging to the World Church is a resource for
all congregations trying to make sense of their calling in
an age of globalisation, offering opportunities to:
• Enrich our life and witness
• Embrace the world church in our midst, and
• Deepen our solidarity with those facing injustice and conflict
With the Council for World Mission (CWM) we are responding
to Jesus’ question ‘Who is my neighbour?’, focussing on issues
of: HIV/AIDS, global warming and degradation of the environment,
social and economic justice, cross-cultural ministry and interfaith
relationships.
“God’s purposes are global. They encompass the world, seeking
to bring healing to the nations, reconciliation and peace
with justice. They speak to our sin and failure, off ering
love and forgiveness; liberation from the past and new opportunities
for tomorrow. They off er a vision of wholeness, of shalom
– people at one with God, with each other and with the creation.
They call us into partnership, to be witnesses to the ends
of the earth.”
